Catalonia has more wine appellations than almost any other region in Spain, each with its own soil, climate and character. Ragnia selects, subject to availability, the family winery that suits you best. Some have vines that have been bearing fruit for eight centuries, and you'll experience Catalan wine tourism through a family that has done this for generations.
The vineyards: straight in among the vines
As soon as you arrive, you're taken straight in among the rows of vines: there's no more authentic way to start understanding a wine than standing on the same soil that makes it possible. Out among the vineyards, you'll learn to tell one grape variety from another, and why the soil and orientation of each plot completely changes the character of the wine that comes from it.
The winery: from the tanks to the cellars where the wine ages
From the vineyards you move on to the winery itself, where you see with your own eyes how the wine is made: the tanks where it ferments, and then the underground cellars where it ages quietly in the dark until the moment the sediment is removed and it's bottled. It's the part of the process almost no one gets to see, and the one that really explains why a wine tastes the way it does.
The tasting, with food pairing
The visit closes with a tasting guided by a sommelier, paired with a selection of cold dishes chosen to bring out the best in each of the house's wines. No prior wine knowledge is needed: that's exactly what the tasting teaches you.

Who it's for
It's the perfect route if this is your first taste of Catalan wine, or if you'd rather spend an afternoon than a full day on the road. It lasts just long enough to be back in Barcelona in time for dinner. Is it always the same winery?
We work with several leading family-run wineries across Catalonia and select the visit based on availability, to always guarantee you the best possible experience.
Do I need to know anything about wine?
No, the tasting is guided start to finish by a sommelier, suited to any level.
How is this different from the Priorat or Cava routes?
This is the closest and shortest of the three: perfect for an afternoon. Priorat is a full day with much bolder red wines, and the Cava route is designed for those after bubbles and celebration rather than still wine.
